Units
In Key Stage 3, students study one unit each half term. Units are taught within a context related to everyday life.
Assessments
These take place towards the end of each half term. Marks are recorded onGo4Schools 

Autumn      

Maths in Property Development (Geometry and Trigonometry)
Students apply scale drawing, Pythagoras theorem and trigonometry to solve problems.
Maths in Property Classroom based assessment (1 hour)
Maths in World (Algebra / Graphs)
Students use graphs to model real life problems and develop their understanding of graphs and equations.

Formal Assessment in exam halls (1 hour)

Spring  

Maths in Graphic Design (Transformations)
Students study the mathematics of design and apply techniques of transforming shapes.
Maths in Graphic Design
Classroom based assessment (1 hour)
Maths in Manufacture (Equations and Geometry)
Students develop further techniques in algebra and solve geometry problems involving linear, simultaneous linear and quadratic equations.

Formal Assessment in exam halls (1 hour)

Summer   

Maths in Finance (Number)
Students apply proportional reasoning in the context of personal finance.
Maths in Packaging
Classroom based assessment (1 hour)
Maths in Networks (Loci and Construction)
Students learn construction techniques and solve loci problems.
End of Year Examination
