Devising from scratch (C1) “GCSE Bootcamp”
In this unit students will be introduced to the GCSE course and will learn how to devise and develop a piece of drama from a stimulus. Particular attention during this unit is placed on collaborative group skills.

Devised evidence portfolio (written and/or filmed)
Component 1
Exploration of a stimuli.  Students will research, rehearse and perform a devised improvisation from scratch, recording the process along in a written portfolio
10% performance assessment (Mid September), 30% Written portfolio (max 2000 words)  Internally assessed and externally examined.  Deadline for submission of CWK October half term.


Performance from Text (C2) “From Page to Stage”
Students will perform in two play extracts which will be a combination of monologue, duologue and group performance.  Students are also able to take on the role of a designer and in place of performing may opt to take on a role designing costume, lighting, sound or set.
Filmed assessment Component 3
An introduction to the play “An Inspector Calls” and responding as a “Theatre Maker”.  In preparation for the C3 final written exam students will study this play from the perspective of a ‘Theatre Maker’ involving looking at the play from the perspectives of a designer, director and actor. Spring    Theatre Makers (C3) “ADD – Act, Direct, Design”
A focus on the ways in which different plays are interpreted from the perspective of Actors, Directors and Designers.
Mock exam paper Component 2
Performances from play texts.  Students will rehearse and perform two extracts from play for external examination.
Component 1 – Review.  Final write up and submission of cwk for Component 1
Assessment: 20% of final GCSE Grade.  The exam usually takes place before February half term
Summer    Devising (C1)
GCSE assessment based on creating and developing a devised piece from a stimuli.  Students are required to keep a detailed portfolio that evaluates the creative process as well as the group devised performance.

Component 3  Continued study of “An Inspector Calls” and write up of notes for C3 Live theatre review Final external written exam (40%) takes place during late May.
