Autumn    

Devising from scratch (C1) “GCSE Bootcamp”
In this unit students will be introduced to the GCSE course and will learn how to devise and develop a piece of drama from a stimulus. Particular attention during this unit is placed on collaborative group skills.
October Spotlight showcase
Devised evidence portfolio (written and/or filmed)
Unit 1 Exploration workshop “Time”.
Six hours of practical workshops.
Controlled assessment (30%)
This consists of:
Written documentary response (10%)
Practical workshop (20%)
Performance from Text (C2) “From Page to Stage”
Students will perform in two play extracts which will be a combination of monologue, duologue and group performance.  Students are also able to take on the role of a designer and in place of performing may opt to take on a role designing costume, lighting, sound or set.
Filmed assessment Unit 2 Exploration workshop “Curious Incident of the dog in the night time.”
Six hours of practical workshops.

This consists of:
Written documentary response (5%)
Live Theatre evaluation (10%)
Practical workshop (15%)
Spring    Theatre Makers (C3) “ADD – Act, Direct, Design”
A focus on the ways in which different plays are interpreted from the perspective of Actors, Directors and Designers.
Mock exam paper Unit 3 Scripted performance
(Students develop a performance based on a script extract to be performed in front of an external examiner).
Practical assessment (40%)
Students are assessed as performers in an adapted GCSE scripted performance.
Summer    Devising (C1)
GCSE assessment based on creating and developing a devised piece from a stimuli.  Students are required to keep a detailed portfolio that evaluates the creative process as well as the group devised performance.
